Group Chat Bills

Challenge

Challenge

Splitting group expenses in Revolut was already possible, but resolving them wasn't. Customers had no way to communicate about a bill inside the app. If something needed clarifying, they had to leave Revolut entirely and coordinate over WhatsApp or another app, an unnecessary detour in a product built around instant payments. That gap created friction, and sometimes drama, around something as simple as splitting a dinner bill.

Solution

Solution

We brought the conversation into the same place as the money: a peer to peer chat built directly into Group Bills, so customers could chat, split, and settle without ever leaving the app. Rather than a single generic message, we tailored messaging to three real use cases, group holidays, household bills, and everyday P2P transfers, each with its own tone and pillar (control, convenience, ease of use), so the feature felt relevant whether you were splitting a holiday villa or a electricity bill with roommates.

Outcome

Outcome

The goal was to increase adoption of Group Bills and boost daily and monthly active usage, with a campaign conversion target of 6.38%. Early product usage showed the chat feature genuinely simplified how groups organized shared expenses, giving customers more control over their money without leaving the conversation.
